About Justine

Justine Brown is a reporter and broadcast journalist who loves all things sports.  She has done work for many outlets across the board including Fox Sports Radio, the NFL Network, and currently does reporting for Bleacher Report and USCFootball.com.

Justine was born in Illinois but moved at the age of 11 to Mineral Point, Wisconsin; a small town with a population of 2,600 people.  In high school, Justine was the captain of her varsity basketball and softball teams.  Her love for sports began at a young age as she grew up competing in anything she could get involved in, didn’t matter if it was basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, kickball, flag football, soccer, or four square.

Senior Night with Mom, Dad and Coach Summitt

Truly developing a passion in high school for talking about and covering athletics, Justine decided to attend the University of Tennessee with a career in sports in mind. She graduated from Tennessee in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Electronic Media for Sports Broadcasting.

While at the University of Tennessee, Justine spent four years working for legendary womens’ basketball coach, Pat Summitt, and the Tennessee Lady Vols.  During her time there the Lady Vols reached two Final Fours, winning back-to-back National Championships in 2007 and 2008.  Justine says that her experience at the University of Tennessee was probably the single best opportunity of her life.  She credits Coach Summitt for teaching her responsibility, accountability and discipline, while putting a huge emphasis on hard work and loyalty.  Also while at Tennessee, Justine received an opportunity at Knoxville’s Fox Sports Radio affiliate, the Sports Animal, through Mickey Dearstone, the Voice of the Lady Vols. There she co-hosted and produced three days a week on Dearstone’s own show, “Doc, Jeff and Heather in the Morning.”

Following college, Justine moved out to Los Angeles after landing an internship at Fox Sports Radio working on “Into the Night with Tony Bruno.”  Spending time along side an established radio veteran in Bruno, Justine not only received great on-air experience, but also absorbed so much valuable knowledge regarding what it takes to handle a radio show in a large market carrying a huge audience.

Justine has spent the last two NFL seasons with the NFL Network as a production assistant helping to produce game day highlights.  Since being there, she has had the opportunity to shadow talent such as Stacey Dales, Jason LaCanfora, and Charles Davis.

Justine is currently a reporter  USCfootball.com and writes and does video features as a featured columnist for Bleacher Report. She has also done freelance journalism for a number of others including Top Rank Boxing Inc., and the Los Angeles Sparks.

In front of the camera, Justine has interviewed numerous prominent athletes including Kevin Durant, Willie McGinest and Dwyane Wade, as well as covering different sporting and charity events such as Baron Davis’ All-Star Kickball Challenge and Willie McGinest’s Comedy Explosion.

An exciting honor, Justine was recently listed as #5 on espnW’s “Top Ten Women in the Sports Industry to Follow,” with likes of many prominent women in the industry.

  1. Amazing resume Justine, never mind all the high-profile athletes, what was it like being around Pat Summit? I have a little tidbits to share with you. Nick Lamaison was recruited by Lane Tiffin to Tennessee to play quarterback and compete for the starting job after Jonathan Crompton left. Coach Dooley came in and immediately gave Simms the starting job.and moved Lamaison to third string. Refusing to let him out of his scholarship, so he couldn’t take advantage of other opportunities. He was forced to either sit on the bench and waste his college career or return to Junior college and keep playing. He returned to San Antonio College and led them to a state and national championship got a scholarship from UTEP and he is lighting it up out there.. A gutsy. Kid and very talented. Watch for him
